It hadn’t been hard to convince her fathers that it would be a good idea to have a sleep over. Ever since the accident, her fathers have allowed her to do nearly anything that she wanted. They were so scared that they would lose her that they gave her anything that she wanted. Most children would take advantage of that – and Rachel knew that. All she wanted was a few friends over with a bunch of musicals and popcorn, and maybe a ‘not so impromptu’ song or two for her friends. Everything would be so great, the only thing was that even though she had guys over, the only one that couldn’t be there was Jesse – because even though her dads trusted her, they knew that he was a boy, with teenage boy hormones and they didn’t need that happening. So she had just kept a smile on her face, and her phone as close to her as possible. Rachel would keep in contact with Jesse the entire night – as long as no one caught her.
Tina was the first to arrive. She had a soft smile on her face, a small bag on her back with her pillow and blanket tucked in her arms. “Tina, It’s been too long!” Rachel extended her hand and led her down to the Oscar room, where her fathers had set up the couch bed, the two fold out beds, and then the futon that they had kept from their college days. “Place your stuff anywhere, I’ll go get my things.” Rachel walked up the stairs, and Tina looked around the room, looking at all of the food neatly placed on the bar along with drinks of all kinds. The Asian gazed at a weird globby substance before she heard Rachel’s voice, “That’s hummus. Its really good – I eat it all the time.” Rachel held her pajamas in her arms as she flowed down the stairs, Mercedes following her; eyes flicking to the food and back before setting her own stuff next to tina’s.
“So!” Rachel giggled sitting on the couch bed, looking at the two girls, happy that they had made it on time, “We are waiting for Blaine and Kurt – but they will be here soon.” She smiled before letting her head nod to the food that she had set out, “You should eat something – I made those cookies. They are chocolate chip.” Crossing her legs, she waited for the girls to turn to the food before she quickly texted Jesse, smiling at what he said and replied, her eyes flicking up to Mercedes when she asked who she was texting. “O-oh, it’s no one.” They didn’t buy that, it was clear. Rachel sighed, “It’s jesse – don’t be mad – but we’re sort of dating again.” The two looked to each other and rolled their eyes. It wasn’t a surprise that they would end up like this, but a holler from her father, telling her that Blaine was here, broke the silence.
Getting up Rachel met blaine at the stairs and pulled him into a hug –“ Hey Blaine! Where is kurt…?”

Blaine had to admit that he was just a little bit surprised when Rachel invited him to a slumber party. He had heard that sometimes girls invited their best gay pals for their sleepovers, but going to an all-boys school, the Warbler had never had the opportunity to actually experience this. All of his friends were guys, and mostly straight guys for that matter. It would be nice to spend a little time with the fairer sex for once. Only when he pulled into the Berry driveway did it occur to him that this might actually be a little awkward. For one, he and Rachel had both kissed and gone on a date, and now he would be sleeping in the same room as her, the room in which they had exchanged that kiss. Of course, that had been an alcohol infused encounter, but the memory was still there, if slightly blurry. On top of that, it would be the first night he and Kurt spent together, save one drunken evening before they were actually dating.
Blaine approached the door, though it swung open before he could knock. Rachel's dads. They were incredibly welcoming, even though they only spoke for a few minutes. In a way, it was sort of reassuring for Blaine to see them, a same-sex couple residing in the middle of nowhere suburbia and seemingly thriving. There were no outraged neighbors with torches threatening to bust down the front door, or bible-thumping evangelists spouting fire and brimstone. Everyone seemed to just mind their own business. He had heard that high school never really ends, but maybe, just maybe, it actually did. Truthfully, Blaine could have spent a little while talking to them, but they figured their daughter would probably be angry with them for holding her guest for too long and they promptly announced Blaine's arrival to New Directions' resident prima donna.
The girl met Blaine on the stairs, greeting him with a quick hug before quickly inquiring on the whereabouts. Pulling out his phone, he read aloud, "Kurt said to tell you that 'Running late. Family dinner. Be there as soon as possible. Love you!'" Blaine paused for a moment, "It's possible that last part was just for me." As the pairing made there way down the stairs, he noticed Tina and Mercedes had already arrived, and claimed the two cozy looking pull-out beds. "Hey ladies," he said politely, dropping his bag and sleepware on the futon. He kept it to half of the mattress, allowing Kurt to take a spot next to him if he chose, and Blaine did hope that they did. While nothing dubious would occur with the girls laying nearby, even if they were at that stage of their relationship, it would be nice to just sleep next to one another.
"So," Blaine began, snatching one of Rachel's chocolate chip cookie, "What exactly is it that girls talk about at these things? I'll admit I'm a slumber party virgin," he said, taking a seat on his makeshift bed for the evening. "Well, mostly boys." Tina replied. "Especially how stupid they can be." Mercedes added. Blaine raised his eyebrows slightly. Knowing that Kurt had taken part in these get togethers before meant that, most defintiely, the name of Blaine Anderson had come up before. "Oh really? And you just, tell each other everything?

Blaine’s body was warm against hers, not in any way did if feel like the way that Jesse embraced her – but it was still very nice. It was the feeling of the brother she never had. Of course – if she would have had a brother or sister – at least half the money that they fed into her would have been given to them, and that is if they liked them equally. No; thinking about it further, she would much rather be an only child and let her close gay friends act like brothers. Pulling out of his embrace Rachel’s face scrunched as he read the text, and then softened when the last of it was read aloud, “ Why wouldn’t he tell me that… the first part I mean.” Placing her hands on her hips she continued, flustered ,”I made food and everything! If I would have known he was eating I wouldn’t have made as much.” Wasting food was one thing, but wasting it because of miscommunication was upsetting. “Well I hope nothing goes to waste.” Rachel took his hands, grinning, “Anyways, we’re going to be down in the Oscar room, mostly because we wouldn’t be able to fit everyone in my room, but mostly because I think we’re going to have a sing off.”
Giggling, the girl pulled him down the stairs and watched as the other girls were eating and chatting furiously, as Blaine set his bag on the futon. Rachel let her eyes count the beds, realizing that she only had four bed set up. Oops, that wasn’t on purpose – someone would have to double up. It didn’t look like anyone would sleep with Rachel, seeing as most of her stuffed animals were scattered all over the couch bed, it included the one that Jesse had just gotten her. As Blaine took a cookie, she refrained from asking him how good it was until he spoke. It was clear that he was going to, and interrupting wasn’t especially good for a host with a guest. “Or,” Rachel leaned in smiling, “How great they are. It isn’t always bad. We also talk about problems in general, or questions about relationships. Most of mine look like they have come right out of a teen movie.” A step was made closer to Blaine, “how are the cookies? I don’t eat them, mostly because they have milk in them, I’m trying vegan for a little while.” Mercedes and Tina looked at the cookies in their hands, “Oh no – they are regular cookies – I just won’t eat them.” The girls shrugged and ate them.
“Well, kurt won’t be here for a little while, he’s eating dinner, so in the time before he gets here-“ Rachel grabbed a cracker and dipped it in the hummus before bringing it to her mouth and covering her lips as she chewed, “I think,” she said after chewing, “That this is not just going to be a regular sleep over, we’re going to have a sing off! And not only that!!” Her excitement was through the roof as she walked behind the bar, and grabbed a box, “My dads and I found these microphones on sale, and I thought that we should design our own. Even though I have a lot of my own – if you can’t tell,” her had waved in the direction of the mic stands that held her pink bedazzled microphones, “I thought you guys might want to do your own.”
“Dang Rachel, how expensive was all this stuff….?” Mercedes looked through the box as Rachel pulled out a tackle box full of glitter, bedazzling equipment, feathers, fur, animal print, and much much more. “It wasn’t too bad – really. And you can use them forever.”

Rachel was finally out of the hospital and she was having a sleepover at her house. Kurt was looking forward to it all week, getting to see the girls again after working all the time, but then he realized that it was a Friday night. Of all the days he could have been invited out, it had to be that day. After his dad's heart attack, he swore that he would never miss another until he went to college and could therefore not be present. He only realized this on the day of the sleepover, and he quickly sent a text message to Blaine to explain his predicament. Since Blaine would be there, he could pass the message on to Rachel and whoever else was going to be there. He finished eating as quickly as he could while still being polite and gathered his things. Once he had reassured his dad twice that yes, Blaine will be there, and yes, her dads were home, and no, there wouldn't be any alcohol or anything similar, he climbed into his car and went off.
Her dads answered the door. Even though Rachel had hinted on several occasions that they would be glad to give him relationship advice and the like, Kurt never took that opportunity. Before, it was because he didn't have a relationship that would require advice, but these days it was mostly because talking about stuff with one's best friend's fathers would be insanely awkward. They directed him downstairs, where he found Blaine and the girls already starting on what seemed to be an arts and crafts project. "Oh, you started without me? Thanks a lot," he announced sarcastically.
Mercedes got up to tackle him. "White boy, where have you been? I haven't seen you in forever!" Kurt was almost knocked back onto the stairs, but he just managed to keep his ground.
"I missed you, too, 'Cedes," he choked out before she finally released him, only to be followed up by Tina. Thankfully, her grip wasn't as strong as Mercedes'. He should have taken more time to see the girls. Working with his dad, he was awkwardly spending all of his time around men once again, though his dad was always careful about the people he employed. The only difference this time was that most of them were older than him and none of them were Blaine. It made him sad that he couldn't see his friends as much.
Next, he went over to the hostess herself. "It's nice to see you not covered in bandages or blood," he said lightly before giving her a hug of her own. "Thanks for letting me stay over again. And I'm really glad that you're better." He hadn't gotten much of a chance to see her since the incident at gLo, but he had a vague idea of what was going on, especially since Finn came home from visiting her in the hospital in a rage. He knew that Jesse St. James was back in her life and apparently there to stay.
Finally he got to Blaine. "Hey, honey," he greeted easily, punctuating the term of endearment with a kiss. He was infinitely less nervous regarding public displays of affection around the girls. After all, they didn't judge; in fact, Tina seemed to like to watch, though that was sort of creepy. "You got my text, right? Sorry about that... I would have sent it to you, Rachel," he added, turning to her, "but his name was higher on my contact list. You understand." He set his overnight bag down on the empty spot on the futon absently. "So, what is everyone up to?"

Blaine almost laughed as Rachel showed her displeasure at Kurt's tardiness. It was not really that it was funny, it was just that her reaction was so Rachel Berry. The girl questioned why she, rather than Blaine, Kurt's boyfriend, was not informed that he would be late. The Warbler placed a reassuring hand along the girl's back as they took a few steps down the stairs. "He probably just forgot. Tonight is family dinner night, I think." Blaine offered, though he was not so sure whether or not his explanation would suffice. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm starving, so I can probably eat for two people." That actually was not really true. He was hungry, but not famished, but it seemed like a relatively harmless lie to relieve whatever tension the girl was feeling. It probably had a lot more to do with mere stress from hosting a group of high maintenance divas like Mercedes and Kurt than anything.
Rachel insisted that the girls talked about the men in their life sincerely, pointing out both the good and the bad things that they did. Regardless, it was unlikely Blaine would be divulging too much information about Kurt. For the most part, they did not have issues to complain about anyway, but if they did, Blaine was not so naive to believe that the girls were his friends before they were Kurt's. If love was a battlefield, he was still in enemy territory. Then again, with Kurt it did not so much feel like a battlefield as it felt like Candyland. Certainly, they were not perfect, but together, things just seemed so much better than when they were apart. Blaine had not been in a lot of relationships, so he was no expert, but he was pretty sure that was what love was.
"The cookies are great, by the way," Blaine added, before Rachel could get too carried away on the night's festivities. Patting his stomach, he continued, "We may have to hide them by the end of the night though. A moment on your lips and what not." He knew it was rather silly to even joke about him needing to watch his figure. He was a teenage boy with a metabolism that just would not give up. He could probably stuff his face into each and every one of those cookies and not gain a pound. It was one of those cruel facts that girls that made every girl hate every male just a little bit.
The idea of singing excited Blaine, he had to admit. He could not help the fact that he was born to have people watching him on a stage. Besides, he always liked hearing Mercedes and Rachel, and obviously Kurt. Plus, he had never actually heard Tina sing a solo, so he was interested to see what she brought to the table. Were he a more devious individual, he might have recognized this as a tremendous opportunity for espionage. Instead, he was busy mulling over song choices. The New Directions' diva pulled out a box of microphone for the group to decorate, which Blaine found to be an excellent use of time until Kurt arrived. Taking a microphone from Rachel, he wrapped his microphone in a blue covering, then bent red piping to glue along the front, ultimately making his microphone resemble a mini-Warbler.
As Blaine finished his decoration, which was pretty darn beautiful if one asked him, was when Kurt swooped in, floating down the stairs until a dangerous hug from Mercedes practically forced him to topple over. The curly-haired boy grinned as the friends embraced. He liked the other diva of the New Directions quite a bit, and her friendship with Kurt was a hilarious one to watch. They both knew what it was like to be outcasts, and what it really meant to feel alone, but were confident enough to face the world regardless. Really, he probably owed her a thank you for helping turn Kurt into the person he now was.
Kurt finally made his way over to Blaine, greeting his boyfriend with a warm, though casual kiss on the lips. "Hey there," he replied, pulling the other boy in for a quick hug. "Yep. Message received, and delivered to the appropriate source, sir," Blaine said, giving Kurt a military style salute. He left off the fact that Rachel was a little agitated at him for showing up late, instead dipping a chopped carrot in the hummus as counter-tenor turned to speak to her. Though, when Kurt inquired what they were up to, Blaine could not help but interject, forcing the carrot piece down his throw so he could answer before the others. "Oh, we were discussing how amazing the men in our lives were, and it's your turn," he teased, not noticing any more than Kurt that the boy had placed his stuff next to Blaine's on the futon.
